This credential has two different contexts to it. It can be viewed as a low voltage network infrastructure technician with software engineering qualifications; or as a central nervous system researcher with bioengineering qualification.

In both scenarios software controls electrical impulses that are sent through a communication channel to obtain a result. This result can be a response, a request for additional information, or an instruction set with status request that may require a request/response cycle.

Circuits for analog devices, such as those used in cognitive therapies can be modeled in software through simulations and automated algorithm testing that models millions of patients going through treatment and projecting their results, side affects, and recommendations.

The hardware based devices could be designed with integration points to the software that would allow the software to be bypassed and the hardware to be used with the available circuits and a lab manual. Fully configured, a communications cycle would transmit circuit parameters to the software interface and that would control the output of the device interface. A status report on LED display can also allow a technician to review the electronic interactions.
